Interim leadership and due diligence for software companies and their investors.

About

For more than ten years I led one software development organisation through a private equity carve-out, its incorporation as a standalone software company and three due diligence processes. I now take on this kind of work for others through my own company, Tectlab AB.

What I do

Interim leadership. Managing Director, CPO or Head of Product in a software company or business unit, on a defined mandate with a defined end.

Carve-outs and separation. Getting a product and its engineering organisation out from under a former parent, including the IT dependencies that tend to outlast the deal.

After the deal. Making product and engineering manageable across business units: what to measure, what to standardise and what to leave alone.

Due diligence. Product and technology diligence for investors. I have been the company's counterpart in three processes, so I know how the material gets put together and where it tends to be thin.

AI in product and engineering. Helping leadership teams work out what AI changes in how they build software and organise their teams, and putting it into practice.

Track record

  • 20,000 to 170,000+annual active users, across more than 20,000 client companies in the Nordics, the UK and Ireland
  • Seven monthsto move the platform off a former parent's IT provider and onto AWS
  • Quarterly to around 40production releases a month, with availability close to 100% against SLA
  • 47 peoplein my own organisation and a group-wide mandate covering around 110, across five countries
One organisation, four corporate structures
  1. Visma Devtrend
  2. Business unit within Visma
  3. Azets, carved out from Visma to HgCapital
  4. Azets Software AB, a standalone software company

I led it from December 2015 to April 2026

From 2021 to 2026 I was Managing Director of Azets Software AB.

AI

At Azets Software I led the adoption of AI-assisted work across engineering, product and design, from Copilot and Cursor to Claude Code and early trials of autonomous coding agents.

What I took from it: you get real value by adding AI to the processes and team structures you already have, but the larger gains only come when you rethink how the work is done and how teams are organised. That only works if the people doing the work come with you.

I spend a good part of my time following where this is going: frontier and open-weight models, personal agents, AI security, where the investment is going and what it all means for development organisations and the people in them.

Projects

Books run by an AI agent. I moved four financial years of Tectlab's bookkeeping onto Accounted, an accounting system built for AI agents and a company I have invested in. Connecting an agent over MCP and setting what it is allowed to do was far simpler than integrating with a traditional accounting system.

Agents, like people, need the right context to be useful. Given context and access to the history, I find an agent as good as the average accountant or better at the day-to-day bookkeeping of a company this size, and very good at checking historical data.

Peka. A calm iOS app for toddlers, with no ads and no data collected. I built it on my own with AI coding tools and took it from idea to App Store, including pricing and distribution.

Angel investments

Imagimob. Edge AI software. I first invested in 2019 and followed in three further rounds until Infineon Technologies acquired the company in 2023.

Accounted. A Swedish accounting system built for AI agents. I hold a small minority stake, with no board seat or formal role, and Tectlab is a customer. I disclose this in any work touching accounting or payroll software.
